It takes basically about 15 days to 30 days to get an approval from most immigration authorities to travel abroad as a visitor. You can travel abroad as a visitor to fulfill any of the purposes:

In some other countries like the US and Canada, visitors may be allowed to stay for a period up to 2 years also specific to immigration policies and the discretion of the visa officer processing your application. It is advisable to begin your application for a visitor visa at least 3 months before the planned travel date. Doing this can save cost in some cases.
